Dozens of people injured during the recent Birmingham Christmas lights concert crush could make a claim for compensation, according to specialists at Fentons Solicitors LLP.
More than 50 people were reportedly injured - some receiving hospital treatment - at the concert on Saturday, 14 November, when the free event at Millennium Point was swamped by more than 20,000 revellers.
Chart acts including Tinchy Stryder and Natalie Imbruglia were due to appear at the event, but it was halted after chaotic scenes towards the end of a performance by X-Factor runners-up, JLS.
Andrew Young, a personal injury expert at Fentons, said anyone who suffered an injury when the crowds surged and security barriers gave way, could be entitled to compensation if the organisation of the event was inadequate.
"Organisers have launched an investigation into how the event got so out of hand, and anyone who was injured in the chaos that followed could now look at making a claim if the crowd control measures were insufficient," said Andrew, a partner with Fentons.
Most of those injured were treated at the scene, but according to reports four people needed hospital treatment for assorted crush injuries including fractures and broken bones.
